Bright Dancer

Bright Dancer

I stand and look on

Silent and alone

The darkness complete

Silence deafening

Before me sits a

Mighty young candle

Ringed with iron stones

A child’s height

A child’s width

The span and length

It dances about

As a ballerina

With shoes of blue

And dress of red gold

All ‘bout her ash stage

She dances, casting

Light and heat all ‘round.

From afar can she

Be seen, bright hope

In a lonely world

Dancing among the

Black stage of dark night

With tree and fern, her

Only observers

With eyes close to all

The night animals

Giving song to their

Only dancer this

Moonless, starless night

A graceful dancer
