Spring

Cold and dark is my tomb
Trapped and cage, I sleep and wait

Heat creeps into my tomb
Its touch a loving caress

Slowly, steadily
The warmth wakes me from my sleep

The time has come
I stir and shake

I stretch and push
Against the walls of my tomb

They give and crumble
Before my touch

Slowly, steadily
I rise above my tomb

It’s warm now
And full of light

I stretch and put forth my leaves
To better enjoy the spring breeze
