The Paths We Walk

brown leaves on a dirt, forest path

The paths we walk
Lie before and behind
Some hidden, some revealed
Some hidden in shadows
Some bright and clear

The paths we walk
Are not always clear
Yet to take the step we must
For to remain or retreat
Is never to reach journey’s end

The paths we walk
Rocky or smooth
Hard or easy
Are not for others to tread
But for our own two feet
